I first learned this 5 years ago and I love how it taught me that I can choose into what I’d like to experience. It helps me be able to respond rather than react. This is how I choose to use my agency because I decide what I want to choose into.
Have you ever wondered if we have to repent of every single one of our sins? I mean there are probably plenty that we don’t remember or realize that we have. I think this is where sharing our testimony and testifying of Jesus Christ helps but what are some of the sins we don’t realize we might be committing?
I learned from a mentor of mine that we need to pray that we can avoid the everyday lies that deceive us. What does that mean? This person went on to explain that the “everyday lies” are in our minds.
In the Doctrine and Covenants Section 59 verse 7 it says, “Thou shalt thank the Lord thy God in all things.” And then in the D&C section 78 verse 19 it says, “And he who receiveth all things with thankfulness shall be made glorious; and the things of this earth shall be added unto him, even an hundred fold, yea, more.” We are being commanded to be thankful for ALL things, not just the positive things or the easy things but in EVERYTHING. This is not always easy. Or I could even say it is never easy to do this. I’ve experienced things in my life that it was really hard to find ways to be thankful for and I know I still have things that I experience or have experienced that it has been hard to find a way to be thankful for them. But ultimately so far as I have had more time and strove to allow the Savior to heal more layers for me, I can see how everything I have gone through has been for my learning and my growth.
So could it be that the ‘sins’ that we are forgetting or don’t realize we have could be coming from not thanking the Lord in all things?
I encourage you to take this week to repent daily by using the repent and replace so that you can cleanse the inner vessel to allow yourself more space to receive more light and truth but also to be able to strive to be thankful in all things.
