Spiritual Bypassing

Spiritual bypassing is a concept I recently came across. It is something that I have struggled with as I used to believe that any “negative” emotion wasn’t being “Christ-like”. Spiritual bypassing refers to using spiritual beliefs, practices, or concepts as a way to avoid or escape from dealing with uncomfortable emotions, unresolved issues, or personal challenges. It involves using spirituality as a defense mechanism to bypass the deeper work of self-reflection, healing, and personal growth. Instead of spiritually bypassing something, it is important to approach personal growth and healing in a more balanced and authentic manner, having self-awareness, processing your emotions (fully feeling all emotions), inner child work, being mindful and present, being authentic and vulnerable, integrating your spirituality with psychology, shadow work, and taking action by being accountable and responsible. Personal growth is a journey that requires courage, patience, and a willingness to face both the light and shadow aspects of yourself. By engaging in genuine self-reflection, emotional processing, and integrating spiritual practices with practical action, you can foster authentic personal transformation while maintaining your spirituality. #spiritualbypassing #innerchildwork #shadowwork #mindfulness #authenticity #integratingspiritualityandpsychology #accountability #courage #patience #selfawareness #selfreflection #healing #growth

There is danger in saying, “Everything happens for a reason” or “It was all part of the plan,” because that could imply that everything that happens is according to God’s will. The truth is that some of what happens in life is contrary to God’s will —because after all, we are all free to accept or reject His will.
